Spirituality: A Journey Back to Yourself

For the longest time, I thought spirituality meant sitting in meditation, eyes closed, mind blank, floating off into some enlightened state. And let’s be real—I could not sit still, let alone stop thinking about my to-do list, what’s for dinner, or whether I left the laundry in the washer (again).

So, naturally, I was not into it. I figured spirituality just wasn’t my thing.

That is, until postpartum hit me like a truck full of sleepless nights and existential questions. Suddenly, I wasn’t just open to exploring spirituality—I needed something to anchor me. And funny enough, I was already a certified yoga teacher, so you'd think I had this whole mind-body-spirit thing figured out.

But here’s what I learned—spirituality isn’t about not thinking. It’s about learning to sit with yourself, to feel, to connect, and to expand your awareness beyond the chaos of daily life. It’s about understanding yourself on a deeper level and tapping into something bigger than just survival mode.

And trust me, if I could find my way into it, anyone can. So, if spirituality has ever felt intimidating, boring, or just plain impossible—stick around. It might just surprise you.

Spirituality isn’t about following a specific religion or belief system, it’s about personal exploration. You learn what makes you feel alive, aligned, and at peace.

We are a Four-Fold Being; we are more than just our thoughts or bodies—we are complex beings made up of four key aspects:

  • Physical – Caring for your body through movement, nourishment, and rest.

  • Mental – Cultivating a strong, healthy mindset and being aware of your thoughts.

  • Emotional – Honoring your feelings and allowing space for healing and growth.

  • Spiritual – Seeking purpose, connection, and alignment with your higher self.

When these four areas are balanced, we feel whole. But when one is neglected, we may feel lost, disconnected, or unfulfilled. Spirituality helps us restore harmony between them.

Simple Practices to Balance Your Spiritual Journey

1. Meditation—No, You Don’t Have to Sit Like a Monk

Forget the idea that meditation means shutting off your brain. Instead, try this: sit in a quiet space for 10 minutes with your eyes open. Anytime a thought floats in—whether it’s about dinner, work, or that embarrassing thing you said in 2012—just let it pass, like a cloud drifting across the sky. No judgment, no overthinking. Just observe and breathe.

2. Move Your Body, Shift Your Energy

Your physical body and your energy are deeply connected. Feeling stuck? Stressed? Uninspired? Move! Take a brisk 30-minute walk outside and soak up some fresh air, or hop on the elliptical and let the movement reset your mind. Exercise isn’t just for fitness—it clears mental fog, releases stagnant energy, and boosts your mood instantly.

3. Gratitude: The Ultimate Mindset Shift

A simple way to shift your perspective? Keep a gratitude journal. Every day, write down three things you’re grateful for—big or small. Maybe it’s your morning coffee, a deep belly laugh with a friend, or just the fact that you made it through the day. Gratitude rewires your brain to focus on what’s good instead of what’s missing.

4. I AM Affirmations—Because Your Words Shape Your Reality

What you tell yourself matters. Start each day with powerful I AM affirmations to set the tone for how you see yourself. Try: I AM radiant I AM love I AM strong I AM exactly where I need to be..... Say them. Write them. Believe them. Because the way you speak to yourself becomes the way you experience life.

There’s no one way to be spiritual. It’s not about rituals or rules—it’s about what resonates with you. It’s about finding meaning, purpose, and connection in your own unique way.

If you’re feeling called to explore your spirituality, start small. Try a new practice, spend time in reflection, or simply ask yourself: What makes me feel most connected to myself?

Because at the heart of it all, spirituality is about coming home—to you.

Are you ready to deepen your spiritual journey?

Well you open my eyes because all the things you talk about I have been doing that for a long time even though some people might think that I’m so negative but you need both forces positive and negative to keep a balance in your life ying and yang. So let the positive balance out the negative and your life will be more rounded
